Heartworm Prevention Clinic for Low Income Pet Owners

November 21 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Heartworm cases in Sedgwick County are soaring! All it takes is one infected mosquito bite for an unprotected dog to become infected with heartworms. Treatment is painful and expensive so prevention is the way to go! Dogs with heartworms who aren't treated with die a painful, horrific death.
We want to try to offer a resource for heartworm prevention for low-income owners ($60,000 or less annual household income). This clinic will include a heartworm test and 12 months of heartworm preventative. Dogs/puppies must be at least 8 weeks old (although testing will start at 6 months of age).
This clinic is first come-first serve and is open to Sedgwick County residents. All dogs must be on leashes or in carriers. Card, cash, or VENMO accepted for the $25 copay. Maximum of three dogs per household. This clinic will be indoors, but the line for service may be outside. Please dress accordingly and prepare for a wait.
Thank you to KSU Shelter Med Program and Dr. Brian Hodes DVM for their assistance in putting this clinic together! Thank you to the City of Wichita for allowing us to use the Hilltop Community Center for this event.
